All versions share much of the same multi-track recording, initially recorded on 4-tracks at Joe Osborn’s studio in ’68. For the A&M release, the 4-track was transferred over to 8-track tape, and the synthesized strings replaced with a real string section at A&M. Richard’s vocals were re-recorded, his spoken intro was recorded for the first time, and the recording was “sped-up” for the album release. The “cross-phasing”, which is heard beginning at approximately 2 minutes, 39 seconds, took place accidentally during the mastering process, and could not be explained by either Richard nor mastering engineer Bernie Grundman.

*Note: There are two separate mono mixes found on various 45’s of “Ticket To Ride”. One has a longer spoken opening by Richard, the other is shorter.
